Technical Specifications

The AC02 is a water-cooled xenon arc light fastness tester from AVENO, built for simulated light colour fastness, photo-sweat composite colour fastness, and solar radiation aging tests on textiles, rubber, plastics, paints, coatings, automotive materials, and non-metallic products. It uses a 6 kW water-cooled long-arc xenon lamp with a high-transmittance filter system, and irradiance is digitally set, monitored in real time, and automatically adjusted through closed-loop compensation. The chamber controls temperature, humidity, and blackboard temperature in a closed cycle, and the 10.4-inch touchscreen supports multistage programming with online editing. The specifications below cover the standard unit; the AC02-1 and AC02-2 configurations differ in sample capacity.

Why This Tester Belongs in a Materials Aging Lab

Light fastness testing fails quietly when the light source ages. The xenon lamp's output drops over time, the sensor measuring that output drifts, and the test that once produced a Grade 4 result now produces a Grade 3.5 for reasons that have nothing to do with the sample. The AC02 water-cooled light fastness tester addresses that directly with standard lamp correction technology that eliminates the attenuation of the irradiance acquisition system from long-term sensor aging, and closed-loop automatic compensation that holds the set irradiance through the run.

The chamber control architecture is what makes long tests meaningful. Temperature, humidity, and blackboard temperature are all controlled in a closed cycle, with ultrasonic and PTC humidification and servo-controlled circulation wind speed. For tests that run up to 10,000 hours, the difference between a chamber that holds conditions and one that drifts is the difference between a valid aging result and a curve that cannot be interpreted.

The BPT and BST same-station equidistant detection is a detail that matters for standard conformance. The black panel and black standard thermometers are measured at the same station and distance as the samples, so the recorded blackboard temperature reflects the samples' actual exposure rather than an averaged chamber value. For standards that specify BPT or BST limits, that placement determines whether the test is valid.

For buyers sourcing through OS4U, the configuration questions are the AC02-1 or AC02-2 sample capacity, whether the optional 340 nm or 300–400 nm irradiance bands belong in your methods, and whether calibration certificates should be included. The AVENO AC02 product page lists the full accessory range.

Key Benefits

Irradiance that stays set for the full run

The AC02 water-cooled light fastness tester holds irradiance through closed-loop stability automatic compensation, with digital setting and real-time monitoring. The standard lamp correction technology eliminates sensor aging attenuation, so the irradiance recorded at hour 5,000 means the same thing as at hour 1.

Chamber conditions held in closed cycle

Temperature at 30–90 °C ±0.1 °C, humidity at 20–70 %RH in the light cycle and 30–95 %RH in the dark cycle, and blackboard temperature at 35–120 °C ±0.1 °C. All three are controlled together, not independently, through ultrasonic and PTC humidification and servo-controlled circulation.

BPT and BST at the sample station

Black panel and black standard thermometers are measured at the same station and distance as the sample. The recorded blackboard temperature reflects the sample's actual exposure, which is what the standards that specify BPT and BST limits require.

Individual timing for mixed-duration tests

All sample clips are timed separately. Samples that need different test durations can run in the same machine without waiting for the longest test to finish, which is a practical benefit for labs running multi-standard workloads.

Water cooling with cost control

The cooling water uses a mix of internal circulation and high-efficiency heat exchange, which saves water and reduces operating costs across long tests. On a machine that runs for thousands of hours, that matters.

Standards coverage across industries

Textile, rubber, plastics, paint coating, non-metallic material, and automotive standards are all referenced, from AATCC 169 and ISO 105-B02 through SAE J2527, SAE J1960, PV 1303, and GMW 3414. One chamber covers the light fastness methods a multi-industry lab is likely to need.

Control interface that supports long programming

The 10.4-inch touchscreen with animation, number, and chart monitoring modes supports multistage running mode programming with online editing without downtime. Long test sequences can be adjusted without stopping the run.

Solving the Problems That Slow Light Fastness Testing Down

Getting results that drift between runs? Closed-loop irradiance compensation and standard lamp correction technology hold the set irradiance through the run and eliminate sensor aging drift. The irradiance at hour 5,000 matches hour 1.

Worried about temperature and humidity interacting? Temperature, humidity, and blackboard temperature are controlled in a closed cycle with ultrasonic and PTC humidification. The three conditions hold together rather than drifting independently.

Needing BPT and BST readings that reflect the sample? The black panel and black standard thermometers are measured at the same station and distance as the sample. The recorded value reflects the sample's actual exposure.

Running samples with different test durations? All sample clips are timed separately. Mixed-duration tests run in one machine without waiting for the longest test to finish.

Concerned about water consumption across long tests? The internal circulation with high-efficiency heat exchange saves water across the thousands of hours a light fastness test runs.

Needing to adjust a programme mid-run? Multistage programming with online editing without downtime. The test sequence can be adjusted without stopping the run.

Testing to multiple industry standards? Textile, rubber, plastics, paint, non-metallic, and automotive standards are all referenced. One chamber covers the light fastness methods across industries.
